Development of Swedish based wind power industry

Sweden has high ambitions regarding expansion and development of wind power. The goal is to reach 30 TWh wind power year 2020. Presently, Sweden lack industrial capacity to reach this goal. On the other hand Sweden has a strong power industry and a well-developed component supplier structure for wind power but lack companies with system integrated competence.

A Swedish industry should be created that is based on the fragmented competence that already exists. This industry could satisfy the growing demand that the goal for wind power will lead to. In order to reach this goal it is crucial to have capital, both Swedish and International, to be able secure a critical mass and with that to make Sweden competitive. The market is becoming more and more global and must be met by international networks, producers and investors.

The headlined project constitutes a logical continuation and up scaling of the project Driven by the Wind, however with the important difference that focus now lies completely on industrial implications for wind power.

Project leader for the project is Christer Asplund. The project will be conducted during the period 22/6/2009 - 31/12/2009 and has a total budget of 3,9 MSEK (~ 400 000 EUR).
